Sharon Coutryer

EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

When Dr. Sharon Coutryer joined SFS in summer 2023, she brought a wealth of experience with members of the Intellectual and Developmentally Disabled field, years of leadership in community operations, large and small, state licensed and independent, and a wonderful faith in Jesus.

Dr. Coutryer came to SFS with 15 years management and quality enhancement experience with a proven track record as a strong, collaborative internal manager and external representative of an organization.

Sharon’s solid record for facilitating cooperative partnerships with residents, staff, and external stakeholders is a blessing to all.

She currently sits on the board of directors for Outreach Community Center in Carol Stream, The Carlton Center in Carol Stream and is a member of the American Association on Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities and the ARC.


Direct Support Professional — Life Skills Coach

STARS Family Services (SFS) offers a wonderful opportunity to make a difference in the lives of residents with intellectual and developmental disabilities. STARS Family Services is seeking Direct Support Professionals to work in our homes that are all located in Wheaton, IL.


Direct Support Professional — Partner Program Job Coach

Trains and supervises the STARS (individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities) in performing tasks at the resale shop. This position is perfect for retirees or college students looking for additional income.


Overnight Sleep Direct Support Professional — Community Builders

SFS offers a wonderful opportunity to make a difference in the lives of individuals with developmental disabilities. STARS Family Services is seeking an Overnight Sleep Direct Support Professional for our homes, conveniently located near the Wheaton College campus.

The Overnight Sleep Direct Support Professional resides in the home from 8pm-7am 5 nights per week, 11pm-8am 2 nights per week, providing a positive atmosphere of safety and community. The CB provides supervision and support for on-site training programs for STARS residents in skills necessary for independent living, including daily routines, creative outlets, and use of leisure time. This position is a sleeping position where you are not required to be awake all night - you are there as a DSP presence in the home for safety and any needed support.


Weekend Staffing Supervisor

As a job share position, the WSS oversees weekend staffing and situations that arise on the weekends and fills in where needed in our SFS homes.


Program Manager of Resident and Family Life

The Program Manager has overall responsibility for the day-to-day delivery of training and support services for the residents STARS in each SFS home. This includes the development, coordination, monitoring, and evaluation of the individualized program services for each resident STARS; is the primary liaison to resident families.
